Measuric Racing best FWD team in the GPVWC International Touring Cup

Last week the final round of this years' GPVWC International Touring Cup was driven. And with only little more than 30 points behind Aurora for 3rd position in the constructors championship it promised to be an exciting last round.

In race 1 and 2 it became clear that pointswise Chris Hack and Gary Lennon were gaining on Aurora. However, with Measuric scoring 9 more points than Aurora our drivers really had to give all they had in the last race of the season.
Aurora has had better races to be said, finishing with only one car (8th). However, only Chris Hack managed to finish in the top-15, coming in as 6th, which meant that the team did not score enough points to secure 3rd position in the constructors championship.

Nevertheless, Measuric Racing did become the best front wheel driven team of the championship, what we are very proud of!

We would like to thank Chris Hack and Gary Lennon for their commitment to the championship and for scoring multiple podiums. Furthermore we thank Eric Stranne and Tobias Olsson for their role as emergency driver during one of the rounds throughout the season.

Supercup

Tomorrow (Wednesday 21st of October) the last round of this years' Supercup season will be driven. Ari Nieminen and Mike Bell will do their absolute best to perform well one more time this year. Our position in the constructors championship is pretty much tied in 12th position.

Mike Bell brings home team's first victory

GPVWC World Sport Series driver Mike Bell brought home Measuric's first ever victory during the second race of the Canadian Sport Series at Montreal.

Because of this result Measuric Racing climbed to the 7th position in the constructors standings. Mike Bell is now in 4th position with only an 18 points gap to the leader, David Jundt.
Riku Sarpila in the meantime scores solid points and both he and Bell are waiting for yet another top-5 finish.

World Sport Series line-up and V8 drivers change

The driver line-up for the world Sport Series has been announced a couple of days after the team was officially accepted as constroctor. Besides the presentation of these drivers, Measuric Racing also made use of this moment to introduce a new driver for the TopStep V8 Series.

2014 GPVWC World Sport Series

After being a year absent Measuric Racing returns to where it all began; the World Sport Series. In 2012,Bart de Vos and Ojay Clark, who later was replaced by Lazaros Kayoglou, drove for the team. A few rounds later De Vos scored Measuric's first podium finish by coming 3rd.
This year Mike Bell and Riku Sarpila drive the Porsches round. "Mike Bell showed that he is capable of finishing in the top-10 in touring cars" team manager Mike Schroten explains. "Furthermore, Riku Sarpila is quite a good driver as well. He showed this for example during the 2013 Master Series, in which he finished on the podium several times."
The reserve driver seat is filled by Mike Schroten.

2014 TopStep V8's

Lazaros Kayoglou returns to Measuric Racing by taking over from Riku Sarpila, who decided to stop driving in the V8's. "Lazaros has driven for Measuric Racing several times before. We are glad to have him on board once again and we will help him in finding his place in this series as well as with setups". Kayoglou will be teaming up with Teemu Toikka, who has been driving for Measuric Racing since the first round of the season.

Measurics curse on the GPVWC winter series

No points were scored during the 2012-2013 GPVWC Winter GT (which later became the World GT), and it seems to be the same in this years’ winter series: the GPVWC International Touring Cup.

Looking back to last year; there was a pretty strong line-up with Lee Davidson and Mike Schroten as primary drivers and rookie Martijn Rietberg as reserve driver.
But Measuric racing was not able to score points, although there were some serious attempts. Mike Schroten was able to score points until he ran out of fuel with only 1.5 laps to go. Two weeks later, during the Daytona GT race, Mike Schroten had some serious chances to finish within the top-5, Schroten qualified 4th. But after almost one lap, while driving 5th, he lost connection to the server and retired.

2013/2014 International Touring Cup

Team manager Mike Schroten wanted revenge during GPVWC’s new winter series: the GPVWC International Touring Cup (ITC). With a line-up including Janne Vaananen and Jon MacLean as primary drivers and Joshua Anderson as reserve driver (and after a few rounds this line-up changed when Joshua Anderson replaced Jon MacLean in the #35 car. However, with only two more rounds to go, Vaananen and Anderson were not able to score points and the team is currently 21st in the standings, out of 22 competing teams.

With only two more rounds to score points, there is quite some pressure on the team. Are they able to break the curse, or will it dominate the team during the remainder of the season?

Riku Sarpila joins 2014 Supercup line-up

Riku Sarpila joins the Measuric Racing line-up once again by starting his Supercup career as reserve driver for the team. This means that the Supercup line-up is now completed.

Two weeks after the announcements of Ari Nieminen and Mike Bell as primary drivers, the teams driver line-up is now complete. Riku Sarpila, who scored the teams first podium in open wheelers last year, will once again play a prominent role for Measuric Racing as reserve driver. Teammanager Mike Schroten stated: "I am glad that Riku wanted to join our team for the 2014 Supercup season, after he showed us what he is really capable of last year. I hope that he can show this again this year when needed."

It is yet unsure whether Riku will drive for Measuric Racing in other series this year.

Measuric Racing confirm inaugural Supercup line-up

Supercup newcomers Measuric Racing announce their driver line-up for the upcoming season, following their promotion from Formula Challenge.

Following on from a competitive 2013 Formula Challenge campaign, Mike Schroten's squad have entrusted their brand new Supercup machines to Finn Ari Niemien and Englishman Mike Bell for the upcoming season, a move he hopes will bring continued success in the middle tier of GPVWC open wheel racing. Speaking at the team's HQ in Bennekom, Netherlands, Mike had this to say;

"It is great to see Measuric Racing going to the GPVWC Supercup. We have had some ups and downs during our last season, with both podiums and perhaps too many retirements. Mike Bell is improving rapidly since last season, especially in GT cars, and I think he can improve even further with us in his first full open wheel season. His strategies are phenomenal and he can do amazing things with his tyres. This, combined with his defending skills has already led to some great results. Ari Niemien already proved himself in the Formula Challenge having seen first-hand his pace during 2013 and we are flattered that he wants to take the next step with us, we will help him as well as we possibly can. With the line-up we have secured for 2014, I look forward to our debut season in Supercup and hope we can continue to move towards the sharp end of the grid."

Ari Niemien has made the graduation to Supercup off the back of two highly competitive seasons in Formula Challenge, scoring a win in his second year and finishing in the top five of the driver standings in each season. Regardless of his results in the lower Formula, Ari remains realistic with his goals for his first season in the faster machinery;

"After two seasons in Formula Challenge it is time for a new challenge, that being Supercup. After being contacted by Mike Schroten, it didn't take me long to sign up with Measuric Racing. I've learned that my team mate will be Mike Bell, well known for driving the widest racing car around, so that could be interesting. I hope to work with him for the benefit of the team. As for my goals, it's hard to say. With so many fast guys joining up, I guess even top 10 finishes would be something to be happy with."

Mike Bell contested a handful of Supercup events last year and hopes he can put this experience to good use when he makes his full time debut in the series, saying;

"After a successful few rounds towards the end of 2013, I am looking forward to putting together a full season in 2014 with Measuric. I know that last season I had decent tyre management, but was missing some speed which I believe I am starting to find in the off-season. This season's grid is starting to look very stacked, so I'm going to need to beat the competition in terms of strategy, because I know it will be unlikely to live with them on pure speed. I am looking forward to teaming with Ari for this season, he was a front runner in the Formula Challenge series last season, so no doubt he has the pace to compete, maybe we can learn from each other and make a formidable team, who knows!"
